A woman who is in the race of life experiences love and joy through her fingers playing a keyboard, voice her joy to the Lord and the air running through her hair. She meets a man who wears leather, rides motorcycles enjoys the freedom of the road, the air through his face and hair arms flung back with joy. He comes at the joy of life from a harder, rougher road that has shown him that love is not always given the easy way, or the accepted way that most think but that despite how freed up he thinks he is, or how she thinks she has come about loving the guy through her experiences being more accepted because she came to them without the hard knocks the man did the love is no less freely given. Love is not more acceptable one way or another. It is freeing in and of itself. Some learn and experience love differently from others. We are all learning through new and old experiences how to be freed up to love and to experience the love of each other and Christ. She learns to ride motorcycles and fling her arms and head back experiencing the open air of love breathed in, he learns to lean in and play the music of love with his fingers on the front of the motorcycle of life in a free way that wasn't all from the hard knocks learning after coming to know the Lord and the woman who is his bride. The woman thinks that because she hasn't sinned the way the man has that her love is more pure, but comes to find out that its the love that is pure. We can all come short of the love of God whether we have come to love Him as the bride of Christ through a rough or seemingly easier road but need freed up to know that the love is what is right not the road to the love necessarily wrong because we each have different gifts that make our love right. Not that there aren't harder or not as seemingly sin free paths to the Lord but love of the Lord is what frees us up to see more ways to love Him and His. |

Roles of a woman-Day 1 7-26-04 All scripture is from the AMP version of the bible. In researching all the roles I felt led to cover by the Lord, if you look then all relationships can and do when they are healthy point to the relationship we need with the Lord. All the roads we take in life lead to the Lord. It’s when we are on the road and know it that true blessings happen. It’s astounding how clear it is in all of life how the Lord shows us in everything that He so clearly loves us. May the Lord bless you as well as me on the road to true life in Him in all our relationships and roles! I felt 8 main roles needed looked into as to what scripture and the Lord has to say for each. They are: - Our role as a woman
- Our role as a friend
- Our role as a disciple
- Our role as a daughter/daughter-in-law
- Our role as a sister/sister-in-law
- Our role as a bride and how that ties into what a Bride of Christ should know
- Our role as a wife and how marriage shows us relationship with the Lord of our souls
- Our role as a mother/stepmother/mother-in-law and how the Lord shows He is gentle as a mother, and nurturing
In studying each of these roles, I apologize for not getting this study out sooner but the weekend was crazy and the more I learned the more I wanted to have this complete so that it would be a blessing where the Lord would stretch us in our knowledge of ourselves and of Him. I learned that the word for woman refers also to a married woman. Woman is called woman because she is taken out of a man. Genesis 2:23 23Then Adam said, This [creature] is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of a man. When you look at Eve, you realize that we have some influence in a mans world that should be prayed over and taken to the Lord for wisdom. Women have a strong influence in their family’s lives. There is scripture all over in the bible about the good and bad about being a woman from those that have not been God fearing. There is so much about being a woman that is a blessing and we need to be careful that we are not a bad influence or one that is not careful in the relationships that our lives touch. In our hands for a lot of us are the next generation of believers and being a stay at home mother or not you still influence what the next generation will have to deal with. No small measure when considering all the people our lives touch. The next generation of women need taught the scripture is alive and there for them. 1 Timothy 5:2 2[Treat] older women like mothers [and] younger women like sisters, in all purity. This scripture says so much. That those that have not had children do not mean we are not to influence and foster other women in faith in Jesus Christ. Our very actions are a witness to who and what we are in our lives. In looking at this scripture I think it says quite a little about how we can use our efforts. Proverbs 14: 1 EVERY WISE woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands. The house is often times symbolic for our heart. We are wise when we build our heart up in the Lord instead of tearing it apart with things that are not good or godly in our lives. The next scripture is something I believe to point out that if your esteem is all in your body then it’s misplaced and will not hold up as all our bodies’ age. Proverbs 31:30 30Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, she shall be praised! So often we by the lies of youth that exterior is what needs looked at but if there is nothing spiritual for the Lord inside that beauty is in decay along with the heart. I think Titus 2:3-5 describes the why of it; we are in a sacred service to the Lord Jesus, showing other women how to be godly women. To give good counsel and teach what is right and noble. When you think of how the world is looking for answers and not finding them in any number of dead ends with beliefs in which they have been miss led then is the time to realize if we don’t walk in the answer which is Jesus Christ as Lord over our lives then how will they know we find it the answer? Titus 2:3-5 3Bid the older women similarly to be reverent and devout in their deportment as becomes those engaged in sacred service, not slanderers or slaves to drink. They are to give good counsel and be teachers of what is right and noble. 4So that they will wisely train the young women to be sane and sober of mind (temperate, disciplined) and to love their husbands and their children, 5To be self-controlled, chaste, homemakers, good-natured (kindhearted), adapting and subordinating themselves to their husbands, that the word of God may not be exposed to reproach (blasphemed or discredited). I think that our roles as women can be enriching for those whose lives we touch. Jesus does have a place for us in His service. In our relationships, in our lives as we walk in these roles, and in our faith as we walk it out. May this find you blessed in your searching your heart for what the Lord would show you this day and the rest. love alicia Lord, I ask Your hand over this enlightening of our roles as women, and our relationships to show us how to be more godly and seek Your will first and foremost. You use the natural to explain the supernatural and we ask You to show us You in all of this. Also, to bless our walk in our life as our roles can and do affect others. May they be healthy spiritually, physically and mentally for Your great good will in our lives. In Christ Jesus name Amen. |

Roles of a woman-Day 3 7-28-04 All scripture is from the AMP version of the bible. In our roles as a disciple as a woman I feel led to define what the word means as a rule. A disciple is someone who is a student, learner or pupil. Used most often as a follower of Jesus. In the Greek world a disciple referred to an adherent of a particular teacher or religious/philosophical school. The disciple is to learn study and pass along sayings and teachings of the master. In Rabbinic Judaism disciple referred to someone committed to the interpretations of scripture and religious tradition given by the master or Rabbi. The process of learning would include a set meeting time. Teaching methods were question and answer, instruction, repetition and memorization. In time the disciples would pass on the tradition to others. The gospels refer to Jesus as Rabbi. Mark 9:5 5And Peter took up the conversation, saying, Master, it is good and suitable and beautiful for us to be here. Let us make three booths (tents)--one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah. John 1:38, 49 38But Jesus turned, and as He saw them following Him, He said to them, What are you looking for? [And what is it you wish?] And they answered Him, Rabbi--which translated is Teacher--where are You staying? 49Nathanael answered, Teacher, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel! His disciples were called to “follow Him” and this called for extreme personal sacrifice such as loss of family, property and so on. He calls for life long allegiance, which is essential to doing the will of God. John 17:16-18 16They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), [just] as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. 18Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. Jesus 12 disciples were representation of the 12 tribes of Israel. Matthew 19:28 28Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, in the new age [the Messianic rebirth of the world], when the Son of Man shall sit down on the throne of His glory, you who have [become My disciples, sided with My party and] followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel. The gospels show “disciple” to refer to more than the 12 disciples but to those that were “followers”. Jesus selected the 12 disciples from the followers. The followers included men and women from all walks of life. Luke 6:13-17 13And when it was day, He summoned His disciples and selected from them twelve, whom He named apostles (special messengers): 14They were Simon, whom He named Peter, and his brother Andrew; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew; 15And Matthew and Thomas; and James son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, 16And Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor (a treacherous, basely faithless person). 17And Jesus came down with them and took His stand on a level spot, with a great crowd of His disciples and a vast throng of people from all over Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to listen to Him and to be cured of their diseases— Luke 8:1-3 1SOON AFTERWARD, [Jesus] went on through towns and villages, preaching and bringing the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom of God. And the Twelve [apostles] were with Him, 2And also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had been expelled; 3And Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's household manager; and Susanna; and many others, who ministered to and provided for Him and them out of their property and personal belongings. John 12:42 42And yet [in spite of all this] many even of the leading men (the authorities and the nobles) believed and trusted in Him. But because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, for fear that [if they should acknowledge Him] they would be expelled from the synagogue; The 12 disciples were sent out as representatives of Jesus to preach the coming kingdom, cast out demons, and heal diseases. Matthew 10:1 1AND JESUS summoned to Him His twelve disciples and gave them power and authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out, and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of weakness and infirmity. Mark 6:7-13 7And He called to Him the Twelve [apostles] and began to send them out [as His ambassadors] two by two and gave them authority and power over the unclean spirits. 8He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a walking stick--no bread, no wallet for a collection bag, no money in their belts (girdles, purses)-- 9But to go with sandals on their feet and not to put on two tunics (undergarments). 10And He told them, Wherever you go into a house, stay there until you leave that place. 11And if any community will not receive and accept and welcome you, and they refuse to listen to you, when you depart, shake off the dust that is on your feet, for a testimony against them. Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the judgment day than for that town. 12So they went out and preached that men should repent [that they should change their minds for the better and heartily amend their ways, with abhorrence of their past sins]. 13And they drove out many unclean spirits and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. The 12 disciples were not the only ones these tasks were for. Luke 10:1-3 1NOW AFTER this the Lord chose and appointed seventy others and sent them out ahead of Him, two by two, into every town and place where He Himself was about to come (visit). 2And He said to them, The harvest indeed is abundant [there is much ripe grain], but the farmhands are few. Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3Go your way; behold, I send you out like lambs into the midst of wolves. Acts 6:1 1NOW ABOUT this time, when the number of the disciples was greatly increasing, complaint was made by the Hellenists (the Greek-speaking Jews) against the [native] Hebrews because their widows were being overlooked and neglected in the daily ministration (distribution of relief). Acts 11:26 26And when he had found him, he brought him back to Antioch. For a whole year they assembled together with and were guests of the church and instructed a large number of people; and in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians. Acts 14:22 22Establishing and strengthening the souls and the hearts of the disciples, urging and warning and encouraging them to stand firm in the faith, and [telling them] that it is through many hardships and tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. Acts 15:10 10Now then, why do you try to test God by putting a yoke on the necks of the disciples, such as neither our forefathers nor we [ourselves] were able to endure? Acts 9:36 36Now there was at Joppa a disciple [a woman] named [in Aramaic] Tabitha, which [in Greek] means Dorcas. She was abounding in good deeds and acts of charity. We are to be imitators of Jesus as a disciple. John 8:31 31So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. John 15:8 8When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine. In looking at all the scripture and thinking on our role as women who are disciples and to disciple I think it is clear that we are to fellowship and learn together so that we can discern from scripture, Jesus Christ in our hearts, and the Holy Spirit guiding us daily in prayer and answer. Our first ministry as women is our families and friends as we don’t want one to not know eternal life with Jesus. love alicia Jesus, I lift us up as women in the training of disciples. Be our Rabbi, our teacher in all that we say and do so that we bear much fruit in Your name. We desire no one miss the opportunity to know You as their Savior. As we have been reached show and guide us to reach others in discipleship. We want to know You more. In knowing You more, we can tell others more. We pray this blessing upon us in Christ Jesus name Amen. |

Roles of a woman-Day 2 7-27-04 All scripture is from the AMP version of the bible. Today is role #2 of our role as a woman in the relationships in our lives. The relationship of a friend to our girl friends, hubby and the Lord. Our acceptance as a friend to those around us that we consider friends is how we define ourselves a lot of times. A definition for friend is a person whom you love and trust, a close companion or comrade. There are close, best friends and those that are there for a season or a period in our lives. We share our defining moments with our friends and our humbling moments with these loved people in our lives. In looking at the friendship of David and Jonathan it blesses us to realize that it is a friendship that wasn’t taken lightly. I know all of us at one time or another have been betrayed by someone we thought of as a friend but there are the friends that are true to the end. 1 Samuel 18:1-4 1WHEN DAVID had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own life. 2Saul took David that day and would not let him return to his father's house. 3Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own life. 4And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, and his armor, even his sword, his bow, and his girdle. 1 Samuel 20:17 17And Jonathan caused David to swear again by his love for him, for Jonathan loved him as he loved his own life. I believe the Lord knits those friends that are loved soul deep in our lives. When I read of the friendship of David and Jonathan I am reminded of the whole story. For those that don’t know the animosity between David and Saul, whom was Jonathan’s father, I urge you to read on it. Saul was the king at the time and later an evil spirit entered Saul and put him against David. Jonathan knowing his fathers hate against David spoke to his father on David’s behalf. Saul threw a spear at him but opposition didn’t stop their friendship. When there is a friend the Lord has knit in your soul life’s bumpy ride isn’t going to cause true friendship to fall apart. Proverbs 17:17 17A friend loves at all times, and is born, as is a brother, for adversity. Proverbs 18:24 24The man of many friends [a friend of all the world] will prove himself a bad friend, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 22:11, 24 11He who loves purity and the pure in heart and who is gracious in speech--because of the grace of his lips will he have the king for his friend. 24Make no friendships with a man given to anger, and with a wrathful man do not associate, Abraham is known as a friend of God. Now that is a friend I always want back in my corner. James 2:23 23And [so] the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed in (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on) God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness (as conformity to God's will in thought and deed), and he was called God's friend. To be a friend of the almighty God is to believe, adhere to, trust in and rely on God. What a great honor for Abraham and Moses the Lord spoke to like a friend face to face. Exodus 33:11 11And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Moses returned to the camp, but his minister Joshua son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the [temporary prayer] tent. Another friend to have in our corner is Jesus Christ. John 15:14 14You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do. Jesus to His disciples. John 15:13-15 13No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends.14You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do.15I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing (working out). But I have called you My friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father. [I have revealed to you everything that I have learned from Him.] Condemnation for being a friend of the world is something to keep in mind as an unhealthy relationship. James 4:4 4You [are like] unfaithful wives [having illicit love affairs with the world and breaking your marriage vow to God]! Do you not know that being the world's friend is being God's enemy? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world takes his stand as an enemy of God. Our love of Jesus and His for us. 1 Peter 1:22 22Since by your obedience to the Truth through the [Holy ] Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, [see that you] love one another fervently from a pure heart. For all the friends of Jesus, God, Holy Spirit, close friends and spouses: 3 John 1:14 14I hope to see you soon, and we will talk together face to face. 1 Peter 2:17 17Show respect for all men [treat them honorably]. Love the brotherhood (the Christian fraternity of which Christ is the Head). Reverence God. Honor the emperor. The love of a true friend in Jesus, the Lord, Holy Spirit guiding us and knowing what’s in our best interests. The close friends that look out for us that the Lord has knit in our hearts we are blessed with, including our spouses are gifts from the Lord without measure. I encourage you to pray for these blessings because they are not something like Forest Gump said “you can’t just find around the corner.” love alicia Lord, we thank You for the measure of love You have given us in Your friendship through You as our Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We thank You for having those that are friends be they girlfriends or spouses in our lives showing us physically what Your friendship really loving. We pray blessings on these people and You for being in our lives that guide us in Your way. We thank You and cherish these blessings in Christ Jesus name Amen. |

Roles of a woman-Day 4 7-29-04 All scripture is from the AMP version of the bible. Today’s womanly role is that of daughter-daughter-in-law. One thing I found interesting is that the daughter-in-law was viewed as an additional daughter. When someone married and had children from a previous marriage those became their children also. So to them the marriage made them blood and any relationship between say 2 siblings that were each from previous marriages on the father and mothers part was prohibited. It was considered incest. Daughter has natural meanings and spiritual meanings, as the Lord uses the natural in all things to explain the supernatural. I found studying these roles from the biblical perspective interesting in that you look at our society and how things are looked at now as compared to then. For instance you hear of a “step brother or sister” marrying another “step brother or sister”. In marriage in the Hebrew custom those children are related. As if born to the same parents all along. Also the breakdown of a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is showing of a collapse of moral society in light of how family ties are viewed. When the daughter-in-law married into the family she became the daughter and as such became not just someone the son married but tied to the family. I am blessed with a great mother-in-law but know of others where the mother-in-law causes strife in the marriage or the daughter-in-law has no compassion to the mother-in-law. In light of this thought I can then understand that undermining on both parts are going to undermine society because what does this show the children which are the next generation of believers how to act? Luke 12:53 illustrates this well. It shows disrespect of elders, who while not always right are beneficial if we but listen. In essence I no longer have one mother I have 2 to go to when I have problems or things I need advice on. Pray and discern the advice given to me. The mentoring from our mothers can be a resource that is invaluable because they have been where we are at. Also, we won’t always have them around and it’s better to have a relationship now as to when it’s too late. Luke 12:53 53They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 1 Peter 3:6 6It was thus that Sarah obeyed Abraham [following his guidance and acknowledging his headship over her by] calling him lord (master, leader, authority). And you are now her true daughters if you do right and let nothing terrify you [not giving way to hysterical fears or letting anxieties unnerve you]. This does not refer to her being less but recognizing authority as the Lord has authority of us all then there is an authority in our lives and we are to honor this. Also, in looking at scripture, we have a Father in God Almighty. Now that’s a Father that can move heaven and earth for us! 2 Corinthians 6:18 18And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. Zechariah 9:9 9Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O Daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you; He is [uncompromisingly] just and having salvation [triumphant and victorious], patient, meek, lowly, and riding on a donkey, upon a colt, the foal of a donkey. Isaiah 62:11 11Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth: Say to the Daughter of Zion, Behold, your salvation comes [in the person of the Lord]; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work and recompense before Him. We are a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Our King came to earth and showed patience, meekness while knowing He was the Son of the living God, lowly not born as one that would stand out physically or money wise. He was triumphant and victorious on the cross bridging that gap that existed between the Lord and us because of our sin. What an awesome Father, one that knowing we are distanced by our own nature, pure though He is, He loved us so much He put new meaning to the words grace, forgiveness, mercy and love. There is no measure and any thing He spared Himself on this; He gave of His only Son to combat the sin disease we all carry. Just so we could cry out Abba, Father from the pit of our own making. Wow! love alicia Lord, show us Your way in our hearts. We have not been a daughter You can be proud of at all times. We ask that You clothe us in white and show us how to keep this garment free of blemish or sin. We have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb and are blessed in this. We ask that Your Holy Spirit guide us and lead us into Your way everlasting. We call Your name to help us show our daughters more of You in our daily walk. We ask You to show us more of how to honor our mothers by birth and by marriage. We pray Your blessing on mothers and fathers for insight in guiding and leading their daughters. We lift ourselves up to be the daughter You would have us be. Come Holy Spirit come that we might hear our Lord better. We pray to You Jesus and thank You for making it possible that we might have access to our Holy Father in heaven. We humbly thank You, in Jesus Christ name Amen. |
